Communications Services

Dawn Yip
Dawn’s most recent communications projects involve writing or editing speeches, reports, case studies and books.

During her civil service career, Dawn was frequently called upon to contribute to writing projects on top of her regular civil service portfolio, in particular speeches by senior politicians. She has also conducted a number of speechwriting modules for civil servants, and has researched and authored several case studies for public sector leadership development programmes.

Dawn was one of the editors of Economics in Public Policies: The Singapore Story, which was published in July 2009 and launched by Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam. She also helped to edit Behavioural Economics and Policy Design: Examples from Singapore, published in November 2011.

Dawn wrote and directed the opening video for the Organisational Learning Conference 2009 organised by the Civil Service College.

Dawn also co-owns Red Sports, a popular sports news website. She occasionally writes and edits for the site.

Leslie Tan
Leslie collaborates with Dawn on selected communications projects. Leslie is the creator and editor of Red Sports, a popular sports news website. Through the site, Leslie communicates intensively with Singaporeans, and with sports-related brands, and has a keen understanding of what drives their interests and passions in the area of sports.

Through the site, Leslie has also interviewed and written features on well-known public personalities such as Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Teo Ser Luck, George Yeo, Michael Palmer, Chen Show Mao and Dr Ben Tan. His feature story on three-time Footballer of the Year Aleksandar Duric, co-written with Dawn, was nominated for Story of the Year by the Football Association of Singapore.

Leslie also conducts regular workshops to train the next generation of youth writers.

Prior to setting up Red Sports, Leslie worked for Nike, Tiger and Heineken in brand management positions for over a decade. These have given him strong grounding on how to create and sustain an authentic, compelling brand story.

Leslie is a member of the Vision 2030 steering committee, chaired by sports minister Chan Chun Sing. The committee is charting Singapore’s sports blueprint for the next two decades. Leslie also serves on the Singapore Youth Award (Sports and Adventure) committee. In 2009, Leslie was presented the 2009 POSB Everyday Champions award by President S R Nathan, in recognition for his work on Red Sports
